क्या आप जानते हैं कि भारत में एक लौह स्तंभ है जो बहुत ही प्राचीन है। कहा जाता है कि इसमे कभी जंग नही लगा ।
लगभग 400 ईसवी मे भारत के लौह कर्मियों ने दिल्ली में कुतुबमीनार के पास एक लौह स्तंभ बनाया था । उन्होंने जंग से पिटवां लोहे को बचाने के लिए एक प्रक्रिया का निर्माण किया । शायद पृष्ठ पर मैग्नेटिक ऑक्साइड की पतली परत बनने के कारण ऐसा है जिससे पहले स्तंभ पर कई उपचार प्रक्रम किया गया है। हो सकता है विभिन्न तत्वों के मिश्रण से इसे रंगकर फिर इसे गर्म कर इसका प्रयोग किया गया हो । यह लौह स्तंभ 8 मीटर ऊंचा और इसका भार लगभग 6 टन है।
98% लोहे का बना हुआ यह लौह स्तंभ, 1600 वर्षों से जंग नही लगा है इसमें।
इस लौह स्तंभ का निर्माण संभवत: चंद्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य ने किया होगा। वैसे इस बारे में कोई खास जानकारी नही है कि यह लौह स्तंभ किसने बनवाया है।
इस स्तंभ पर संस्कृत पर कुछ उत्कीर्ण हुआ है उसके अनुसार इसे ध्वज स्तंभ के रूप में खड़ा किया गया था। इसे महरौली लौह स्तंभ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इसे मथुरा मे एक पहाड़ी है जिसे विष्णु पहाड़ी कहते हैं पर भगवान विष्णु के मंदिर के सामने ध्वज स्तंभ के रूप में लगाया गया था।

Do you know that there is an iron pillar in India which is very ancient. It is said that it never got rusty.
Indian iron workers built an iron pillar near Qutub Minar in Delhi in about 400 AD. He devised a process to save the pitched iron from rust. This is probably due to the formation of a thin layer of magnetic oxide on the page, which has undergone several treatment processes on the first column.
It may have been used by coloring it with a mixture of different ingredients and then heating it. This iron pillar is 8 meters high and weighs about 6 tons.
This iron pillar made of 98% iron has not rusted for 1600 years.
This iron pillar may have been built by Chandragupta Vikramaditya. By the way, there is no specific information about who built this iron pillar.
On this pillar there is some engraved on Sanskrit according to which it was erected as a flag pillar. It is also known as Mehrauli iron pillar. It is a hill in Mathura called Vishnu Pahadi but was installed as a flag pillar in front of the temple of Lord Vishnu.
